NOVA BINARY SYSTEM EVOLUTION SCENARIO
Nova is a type of cataclysmic variable (CV) consisting of a white dwarf and a low-mass late-type star as a partner. As a CV, the two-component stars are quite close together, so that one of their stars lls its Roche lobe. This raises the question, how did it originate so that there are star syste...

As a CV, the two-component stars are quite close together, so that one of their stars lls its Roche lobe. This raises the question, how did it originate so that there are star systems with short periods and one of them consists of white dwarfs, which in certain circums- tances can be classied as a nova. This nal project will answer this question in terms of stellar evolution with several approaches. The Modules for Expe- riments in Stellar Astrophysics (MESA) program was used as a computational tool to simulate the evolution of a nova progenitor double star. WY Sagittae was selected as a comparison of the evolution tracks created using MESA from 27 models with dierent combinations of initial parameters (M1, M2, and P). The computational results of the suitable model will be studied in more detail to see what happened throughout its evolution. text |
