In line with the increasing of tempeh production, tempeh dregs also increased and become a problem that need to be managed. Hermetia illucens larvae have been extensively researched and used as bioconversion agent for organic wastes management. The aim of this study is to analyze growth performance of H. illucens (Diptera: Stratiomyidae) larvae, fed on tempeh dregs. Thirty larvae of H. illucens (7 days old) were reared on tempeh dregs with different feeding rate (12,5; 25; 50; 100; 200 mg/larvae/periode) in a 300 ml container and the temperature was maintained at 23-24°C. Growth period of larvae become prepupae/pupae, prepupae/pupae weight, larvae weight, residue weight and feed weight is observed. Then, growth rate, survival rate, approximate digestibility (AD), efficiency of conversion of digested feed (ECD), and waste reduction index (WRI) are calculated and analyzed. The result showed that feeding rate at 200 mg/larvae/period had the shortest growth period (53 ± 15,65 day), highest WRI (1,67 ± 0,36), highest survival rate (100%), and highest growth rate (1,57 ± 0,31 mg/day) among others, but has ECD value (10,79 ± 3,972%) and AD value (83,879 ± 3,88%) lower compared to others. From 10,33 g dry weight of tempeh dregs of 200 mg/larvae/period feeding rate, 74,93% feed used for metabolism, 8,95% for biomass, and 16,12% become residue. Based on the results, it is concluded that tempeh dregs can be used as feed for H. illucens and feeding rate of 200 mg/larva/period was the most optimum condition. text |
