Description
Summary:The rapid population growth, increased industrial activities, and economic activities in the community are among the factors contributing to the waste production rate. Improperly managed waste has bad effects on environmental pollution, disrupts the ecological system, and causes health risks to humans. This research aims to design a leachate treatment installation for the Toisapu Landfill in Ambon City, Maluku, and estimate the construction cost of the planned leachate treatment facility. The Toisapu Landfill began operating as a disposal and final waste processing site with an initial design of a controlled landfill system. In this system, the waste is covered with soil every week to prevent odor, the presence of disease-carrying flies, and rainwater seepage turning into leachate. The existing condition of the Toisapu Landfill can be described as having three landfill area zones, an unmanaged leachate treatment facility, a waste processing facility, and its administration under the Environmental and Waste Management Agency (DLHP) of the Ambon City Government. The design of the landfill installation involved collecting primary data through direct observations on-site and interviews with data/information sources. Additionally, secondary data was obtained from relevant sources such as DLHP, laboratory test results for leachate, geophysical and climatic data from BMKG, and written reports from BPS got a result a BOD/COD ratio ranging from 0.012 to 0.36, categorizing it as non-biodegradable leachate, meaning it cannot undergo biological treatment. Alternative 5 Coagulation - Floculation, Sedimentation I, Aerated Lagoon, Sedimentation II, the flow rate of the leachate plan is 1,33 x 10-3 m3/s, The design of the leachate treatment facility at Toisapu Landfill, in accordance with the design and analysis results, requires an estimated cost of Rp 10,000,000,000 for the construction and Rp 1,618,347,125 per year for the operational and maintenance. Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that design for the leachate treatment facility is Equalization Tank, Coagulation-Floculation, Sedimentation I, Aerated Lagoon, Retention Tank, Sedimentation II.
