INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/79375 The Bengkong Subdistrict has a population of 126,000 people in 2023, with an annual population growth rate of 2% (BPS, 2023). Recognizing the potential impact of this high population growth on the increase in domestic wastewater generation, it is noted that the majority of households in this subdistrict use septic tanks that do not comply with the national standard (SNI) for local domestic wastewater treatment. This has led to water pollution in the reservoir. A wastewater collection and treatment system is deemed necessary, considering the anticipated population growth over a 20-year planning period. The population projection using the linear regression method estimates a population of 198,670 people in the year 2043. The planned sewerage system is designed to serve the entire subdistrict, divided into 21 service blocks, generating a wastewater flow rate of 726 l/s through gravity. Fourteen pumping stations are proposed due to the hilly terrain, ensuring compliance with standard criteria, including a self-cleansing velocity of 0.6 m/s and a maximum velocity of 3 m/s. The system includes pipelines totaling 15.5 km in length and 312 manholes. The planned communal wastewater treatment plant (IPAL Komunal) has a design capacity of 30,590 m3/day. It will treat wastewater with characteristics of BOD 148.4 mg/l, COD 269.4 mg/l, and TSS 141.6 mg/l. The treatment process involves bar screening, grit chamber, equalization tank, sedimentation tank, moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR), clarifier, and disinfection tank. The construction cost of the sewerage system is estimated at 38 billion, while the IPAL construction cost is 11 billion. Operational costs for the sewerage system and IPAL in stage 2 are projected at 1.3 billion and 2.5 billion rupiahs, respectively. The Benefit-Cost Ratio (BCR) is calculated at 1.52. text
