Working conditions to achieve production targets have caused a number of workers to complain of discomfort. Therefore, in order to overcome these problems, an ergonomics risk assessment using Minister of Manpower Regulation Implementation Guidelines Number 5 of 2018 is conducted to identify the level of ergonomics risk which occurs to workers. In addition, in order to minimize the risk of ergonomic hazards at workstations, a proposed improvement is designed by considering ergonomic aspects. This study refers to a number of research instruments contained in the Minister of Manpower Regulation Implementation Guidelines Number 5 of 2018. The assessment for the five work stations at PT CJMA began with conducting observation and distributing a survey of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) complaints to workers in order to identify ergonomic problems in the workplace. Furthermore, an assessment of the level of potential ergonomic risk which occurred at each workstation was conducted. Evaluation for each work station was also conducted to determine the initial conditions of the dimensions of the place and work equipment. In order to overcome the potential risk which is reflected in the results of the assessment and evaluation of work stations, a proposed improvement solution is designed for each work station by considering ergonomic aspects. The result of the study shows that almost all of workstation have a high level of potential ergonomic risk. Potential ergonomic risk which is generally identified at each workstation is awkward postures; such as, bent neck posture and forward body bending. In addition, other potential risk; such as, excessive movement of the upper limb and bending of the wrist are often found at workstations. This potential risk is caused by the design of workstations which are not ergonomic so that complaints arise when they work. Therefore, in order to overcome this problem, a number of suggestions for improvement solutions are proposed at each workstation by considering to ergonomics aspect. The improvements which are proposed to overcome a number of potential risks that arise can be conducted by improving the design of the workstation, improving the design of the sitting station, and using air conditioning at each workstation. text
