Summary: | Marble is a superior natural resource in Tulungagung Regency, which is used for
various types of crafts and construction materials for buildings. Apart from all its
benefits, processing marble also leaves behind waste which has an impact on
industry and the surrounding community. Fragments, gravel and marble powder
are residues from marble waste. The aim of this research is to create
environmentally friendly waste-based products to optimize material supplies. This
product design will not only fulfill people's needs for environmentally friendly
products but will also indirectly have a negative impact on industry in
Tulungagung. By using a qualitative approach, this research uses design
development and material exploration methods, all of which aim to make marble
waste the main material for product design. Through experiments applied to
explore marble waste, it has revealed its potential as a new alternative for making
product materials in the marble industry. By reprocessing waste sourced from the
Tulungagung marble industry into marketable materials, this research seeks to
reduce waste while taking advantage of the unique characteristics of various types
and proportions of waste. This collaborative effort with local craftsmen has
produced interior decoration products, added value to domestic waste,
strengthened the local economy, and maintained the poverty of the domestic
industry in Tulungagung. |
