Summary: | Cirebon as a Royal City located on the coast, the entrance and melting pot area of
various cultures, religions, philosophies, etc. is inseparable from the 3 significant
cultures that influenced it. It is inseparable from the 3 primary cultures that
influence it. Rich in artifacts of culture and society, in the form of diversity in the
form of gates, as well as ancient manuscripts as an intellectual base as a written
philosophical foundation, especially the Prince Wangsakerta manuscript. Gate
research based on the concept of Nawa Gapura Marga Raja in the study of Naskah
Pustaka Rajya Rajya I Bhumi Nusantara aims to understand the value system and
conception of the gate to be able to create and produce work in the form of presentday gate ideas as a branding concept for the city of Cirebon, through a very deep
historical record of Cirebon. The research methodology uses qualitative
inductively, with an approach using ethnographic methods that allow the approach
to experience, interpret, and represent a culture and social community in the
concept of culture and then elaborate on the results of the analysis of the history of
Cirebon culture through oral history, in-depth interviews with the palace family,
cultural experts, government, the people of Cirebon and also other literature
studies, Furthermore, it is to carry out a conceptual design process, using the
Cirebon religiosity approach, to create an idea of designing the present Cirebon
City gate. This research is expected to provide insight into the knowledge of
Cirebon City branding considerations in the form of the present city gate that can
be used as a foundation in creating the value of the city of Cirebon based on
manuscripts. In addition, this research is also expected to provide new knowledge
about the identity of the City based on the approach of historical and cultural
records in a manuscript so that it can trigger critical thinking about the analysis of
manuscripts, especially Nusantara manuscripts and pave the way for other
research in the fields of art, design, and culture. |
