The model simulation was done to describe the longshore currents on February and August 2006. Model validation was carried out by aplying the model to an ideal case, planar beach with a given slope of bathimetry, and real case in Eretan Beach. In ideal case, longshore current profile resulted from the model was compared with analytical calculation by Longuet-Higgins and in the real case, currents magnitude resulted from the model was compared with the observation data in two stations. The simulation results show a good agreement with both the analytical solution for the ideal case and observation data in Eretan Beach for the real case. Maximum current velocity resulted from the model on February is 0.5 meter/second with direction to the west and the breaker line on 300 meters from the shore. While, on August, maximum current velocity is 0.3 meter/second with direction to the east and the breaker line on 100 meters from the shore. <br /> text |
