DIRECTION ANALYSIS DEVELOPMENT OF CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT ENGINEERING EDUCATION AND RESEARCH ON THE NEEDS OF THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY IN INDONESIA

The development of world industry requires every industry to be able to work more effectively and efficiently. As a result of this development, the construction industry requires more competent management personnel to face these challenges (Lee, Jeffreys, Ponton, & Cohn, 2011). Having competent personnel is one way for the construction industry to keep up with the era. MRK (Construction Management and Engineering) master's education is one of the educational programs that produces construction management personnel. In this research, an evaluation of MRK education and research in Indonesia will be carried out, with the aim of identifying the level of suitability of MRK education and research with the human resource needs of the national construction industry as well as obtaining future projections regarding the education curriculum and MRK research topics in helping the development of the national construction industry. The research was carried out using the content analysis method in the MRK master's education curriculum and previous MRK research data from various literary sources such as journals, white papers, textbooks and proceedings to later be compared with the results of questionnaires regarding practitioners' opinions on educational aspects and research topics that can help in the national construction industry. The results obtained are that many aspects of the education provided in the MRK master's education are still not appropriate, while for MRK research to date, only a few of them are not in accordance with what is expected in the national construction industry. By knowing this, the direction that can be given to education and research is by increasing the level of application and study of several aspects of education and research topics.
