Description
Summary:Abstract:

Geoelectrical resisitivity method is one of the geophysics methods using the distribution of resistivity to detect geological structure in the sub-surface. This method is mostly used for ground water searching, ground water pollution monitoring, geothermal exsploration, geotechnical application and archaeology investigation.

In this thesis, the physical modeling is used for examining the application of geoelectric resistivity in geotechnical especially in determining the existence and the distribution pattern of an cavity below sub-surface. The cylinder anomaly sample in the modeling is made of eastonware clay as an analogy of an cavity location. The Wenner-Schlumberger electrode configuration is applied in the measurement system.

The result shows that the existence and distribution pattern of cavity anomaly sample could be detected by contour of the value resistivity distribution per cross-section of line measurement. On the other hand, the location and the position of anomaly sample could not exactly detected yet. This could be happened due to the closed contour pattern is not formed because of the wide resistivity difference between the layers.
