OPTIMIZATION OF AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE TASK PACKAGING FOR B737-800 NG

Maintenance program plays a critical role in organizing and executing various tasks to maintain the performance of aircraft components and systems. These tasks are grouped into maintenance task packaging based on similar interval due dates. However, the global pandemic has caused significant decline...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/79539 Maintenance program plays a critical role in organizing and executing various tasks to maintain the performance of aircraft components and systems. These tasks are grouped into maintenance task packaging based on similar interval due dates. However, the global pandemic has caused significant decline in flight demand, impacting the assumption of daily aircraft utilization. Daily aircraft utilization is fundamental to determine maintenance intervals especially for packing maintenance task packaging of A-Check and C-Check in which any inequalities in the maintenance interval measurement (Flight Hours, Flight Cycle, Days) will led to some task being done prematurely, resulting the task to be done individually aside from their supposed packaging. These task that are executed prematurely will resulted in increase of maintenance downtime, additional cost for maintenance, and financial losses. PT.XYZ in this instance, like many other airlines, faces challenges in maintaining their existing maintenance task packaging due to these changes.[M1] Identifying the issue has revealed that the current daily assumption of utilization for PT. XYZ does not match the forecasted assumption of utilization for 2023. To address this issue, finding new aircraft utilization based on the forecasted data of 2023 and finding the best maintenance interval for maintenance letter checks (A-Check and C-Check) that is suitable new aircraft utilization are done. In conclusion, the most optimized maintenance interval for A-Check and C-Check that is suitable forecasted aircraft utilization for 2023 are done by analysing which combination of grouping method, interval, and packing division give the most optimal results by observing from avg.cost/flight hour number, resulted in new maintenance interval of A-Check every 1100 FH and C-Check every 11500 FH with each of the packing division are 5, and the grouping method are Equalized-Block. text
