IDENTIFICATION OF RESERVOIR AND DEPOSITIONAL ENVIRONMENT FACIES USINGUSING SIMULTANEOUS SEISMIC INVERSION METHOD IN THE LOWER TALANG AKAR FORMATION, “KL” FIELD, SOUTH SUMATRA BASIN

Reservoir characterization is a crucial aspect of the hydrocarbon exploration process. The "KL" field, situated in the Lower Talang Akar Formation (LTAF) within the South Sumatra Basin, consists of three compartments bounded by faults. The field is also constrained by four intervals del...

The "KL" field, situated in the Lower Talang Akar Formation (LTAF) within the South Sumatra Basin, consists of three compartments bounded by faults. The field is also constrained by four intervals delineated by Flooding Surfaces. The "KL" field comprises 64 well data, with five Key Wells providing the most comprehensive data, representing all three compartments. This study involves reservoir characterization using the simultaneous seismic inversion method in the "KL" field to enhance predictions of lithology distribution in the prospect area. The simultaneous seismic inversion method concurrently inverts partial angle stack data to generate acoustic impedance, shear impedance, density (?), and Vp/Vs ratio data. In addition to employing the simultaneous seismic inversion method, sensitivity analysis is conducted to identify lithology based on well log data. To broadly identify sedimentary facies environments, an analysis is performed through Electrofacies correlation and well stratigraphy. The four outputs from the simultaneous inversion will be utilized in determining sedimentary facies environments, in conjunction with correlation maps of well stratigraphy, Isopachs, and Isochrons, to pinpoint reservoir distribution locations. The reservoir in the "KL" field is composed of porous batupasir containing hydrocarbons, predominantly in the form of gas. text
