The results of thermal maturity modeling show that the Central Depression started the beginning of maturity in the Early Miocene and the East Bawean Trough started in the beginning of maturity (0.60% Ro) in the Middle Miocene, and currently both are at the overmature stage (1.35% Ro). Reconstruction of the geological structure carried out during the Pliocene clearly shows that the migration direction and hydrocarbons filling from the Central Depression is more dominant towards production fields & exploration prospects in the JS-1 Ridge high compared to the East Bawean Trough. text |

description |
The JS-1 Ridge high is flanked by the Central Depression in the east, and the East
Bawean Trough in the west. This low is filled with the source rock of the Ngimbang
Formation which has matured, migrated, and filled the reservoir rock of the Kujung
Unit 1 Formation in the Northeast Java Basin. This object study focuses on
Geochemical, Thermal Maturity Modeling and Hydrocarbon Filling to identify the
potential of the two lows as hydrocarbon kitchens. Apart from that, knowing which
lowlands have the greatest contribution to producing hydrocarbons is necessary to
map possible hydrocarbon migration routes in detail, especially for exploration
prospects that have not been drilled in this area.
The research method will focus on modeling hydrocarbon maturity and filling by
integrating seismic data, well data and biostratigraphic data supported by
geochemical analysis data to produce a model of hydrocarbon migration and filling
in the research area.
Geochemical analysis of the source rock of the Ngimbang Formation from several
wells shows a range of average total richness of organic material (TOC) of 1.04-
3.56%, with kerogen type II/III with a tendency to produce oil and gas and has a
maturity level of immature to just mature (Immature-Early Mature). However, the
equivalent analysis of vitrinite reflections from oil and gas extraction shows that
the migration and filling of hydrocarbons originates from a maturity of 0.64 to
1.43%Ro, which indicates that the hydrocarbons are not in situ. Biomarker analysis
of oil extraction shows that the source rock environment originates from a fluviodeltaic type of environment.
The results of thermal maturity modeling show that the Central Depression started
the beginning of maturity in the Early Miocene and the East Bawean Trough started
in the beginning of maturity (0.60% Ro) in the Middle Miocene, and currently both
are at the overmature stage (1.35% Ro). Reconstruction of the geological structure
carried out during the Pliocene clearly shows that the migration direction and
hydrocarbons filling from the Central Depression is more dominant towards
production fields & exploration prospects in the JS-1 Ridge high compared to the
East Bawean Trough. |
