MONITORING THE CONDITION OF THE PLTS SYSTEM BASED ON INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT) TO INCREASE THE RELIABILITY OF THE PLTS SYSTEM

This research aims to overcome problems with PLTS performance, which are mainly caused by shadows or objects such as leaves covering photovoltaic (PV) modules. One common solution is to install PLTS at high altitudes. However, this method creates difficulties in maintenance, system monitoring, and...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/79871 This research aims to overcome problems with PLTS performance, which are mainly caused by shadows or objects such as leaves covering photovoltaic (PV) modules. One common solution is to install PLTS at high altitudes. However, this method creates difficulties in maintenance, system monitoring, and failure detection during operation. To overcome this problem, this research created a PLTS condition monitoring system that focuses on the module level by applying Internet of Things (IoT) technology. This system is designed to overcome the weaknesses of conventional condition monitoring methods, such as cable complexity and limitations in detecting damage to each module. In creating this condition monitoring system, a module output voltage measuring instrument with an accuracy of up to 99% and a temperature measuring instrument was installed on each of the 12 modules. This tool is capable of sending measurement data into a database every 8 seconds, enabling real-time monitoring of the condition of each photovoltaic module. Measuring voltage and temperature on PV modules is important to ensure system performance and reliability. The measured voltage provides information about the power output and operational conditions of the module, while the temperature affects the energy conversion efficiency. High temperatures can reduce efficiency and shorten module life, while unstable voltage can indicate a problem in the system. By monitoring these two parameters, it is possible to optimize output power, prevent damage, and guarantee the safe and efficient operation of the PV system. Data that has been entered into the server can be accessed via a website, enabling remote monitoring. The high monitoring frequency enables rapid detection of changes or problems in the system, such as a decrease in power output due to damage or the influence of environmental conditions. This helps in making quick operational adjustments, such as adjusting panel angles, load management, or panel cleaning, to maximize energy production. text
