Oxidation during the MMC Cf/Al squeeze casting process can interfere with the infiltration of aluminum into the carbon fibers. This research discusses the fabrication of aluminum composite Al-10Mg reinforced with carbon fiber H2250 12K through the squeeze casting method under a CO2 atmosphere with a variation in temperature, type of mold, and pressure. The aluminum composite (Al-10Mg) reinforced with carbon fiber H2250 12K was successfully fabricated using the laminated squeeze casting method. The best process parameters were obtained by using a CO2 atmosphere, at a temperature of 700 oC, using a partially closed mold, and a pressure of 10 MPa. However, with the parameters, oxidation of aluminum and carbon fiber still occurs and complicates the infiltration of aluminum into the carbon fiber. text |
