INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/79958 Pit X is one of the coal mining areas in Jorong District, Tanah Laut Regency, South Kalimantan, Indonesia. Jorong District is part of the Asem-Asem Basin with the Warukin Formation as the coal-bearing formation. This study aims to determine the depositional environment and characteristics of coal in Pit X. The data used in the research are primary data in the form of coal samples, as well as secondary data in the form of 19 borehole data, proximate analysis data, sulfur data, and calor test data. Coal deposition environment analysis was conducted using borehole lithology data and coal sample maseral composition. Meanwhile, coal characteristics analysis was conducted using proximate test data, sulfur data, and calor test data. Correlation of drill data in the study area was carried out using 19 borehole data that formed three lines, the correlation results showed two unauthorized units, namely the Sandstone Unit and the Claystone Unit, which have equivalence with the Upper Warukin Formation. Drill data correlation also shows there are seven coal seams that tend to be continuous, namely Seam C, D, E, F, G, H, and I. The results of stratigraphic analysis show that there are five facies associations in the form of swamp, crevasse splay, channel, levee, and interdistributary bay, indicating that the coal was deposited in a transitional lower delta plain environment. Based on the results of coal petrographic analysis, the type of depositional swamp is clastic marsh with limnic hydrological regime. The results of coal characteristic analysis show that the coal in the study area belongs to subbituminous class B to sub-bituminous C with ash content of 2-5% adb, and sulfur content <1% adb. text |

Pit X is one of the coal mining areas in Jorong District, Tanah Laut Regency, South
Kalimantan, Indonesia. Jorong District is part of the Asem-Asem Basin with the
Warukin Formation as the coal-bearing formation. This study aims to determine
the depositional environment and characteristics of coal in Pit X. The data used in
the research are primary data in the form of coal samples, as well as secondary
data in the form of 19 borehole data, proximate analysis data, sulfur data, and calor
test data. Coal deposition environment analysis was conducted using borehole
lithology data and coal sample maseral composition. Meanwhile, coal
characteristics analysis was conducted using proximate test data, sulfur data, and
calor test data.
Correlation of drill data in the study area was carried out using 19 borehole data
that formed three lines, the correlation results showed two unauthorized units,
namely the Sandstone Unit and the Claystone Unit, which have equivalence with
the Upper Warukin Formation. Drill data correlation also shows there are seven
coal seams that tend to be continuous, namely Seam C, D, E, F, G, H, and I.
The results of stratigraphic analysis show that there are five facies associations in
the form of swamp, crevasse splay, channel, levee, and interdistributary bay,
indicating that the coal was deposited in a transitional lower delta plain
environment. Based on the results of coal petrographic analysis, the type of
depositional swamp is clastic marsh with limnic hydrological regime. The results
of coal characteristic analysis show that the coal in the study area belongs to subbituminous class B to sub-bituminous C with ash content of 2-5% adb, and sulfur
content <1% adb. |
