Summary: | Ecotourism is an example of sustainable tourism that combines the interests of the tourism industry with environmental enthusiasts. Ecotourism can be conducted in mangrove areas because mangroves offer a variety of natural resources, landscapes, flora, fauna, and socio-economic activities that are attractive as ecotourism objects and attractions. The development of ecotourism involves the participation of local communities, so it is important to look at the transition process in ecotourism development, which refers to conservation initiated by the local community. Therefore, it is necessary to observe this process in the development of the Munjang mangrove ecotourism in West Kurau Village, Bangka Island.
This research aims to identify the transition process of the development of Munjang mangrove ecotourism through a Multi-Level Perspective, which includes the landscape, regime, and niche levels, and to identify the fit and stretch patterns in its development. This research uses a qualitative descriptive analysis method. The research is conducted through interviews with stakeholders involved in the development process of Munjang mangrove ecotourism, including managers, government officials, and the local community around West Kurau Village.
The results of this research can be concluded that the exploitation has led to the emergence of an initiative to protect the area around the mangrove forest, which has evolved over time and has now transformed into a recreational activity that provides education and entertainment, known as Munjang mangrove ecotourism. The emergence of other innovations is influenced by the interconnection between actors at each level, such as the landscape, regime, and niche levels.
