INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/80059 The Batam Center area in Batam City has experienced many changes from when it was first planned until now. Various factors influence the development of a region. This research aims to analyze the development of city morphology in Batam Center when it was first planned and the current situation based on aspects of land use change, road network patterns, and building form and function, as well as knowing the factors that influence morphological development. This research uses quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis with remote sensing interpretation techniques from google earth pro images. Tissue analysis was carried out to determine the processes, products, and behavior of urban morphological development. Historical approach methods and interview methods were also used to analyze. The objects studied are land use, road networks, building forms, processes, products, morphological development behavior and factors causing morphological changes. The research results show that land use in the Batam Center area has changed over time. The land use, which was originally planned only for offices and service trade, is currently experiencing the addition of mixed and residential zones. The road network pattern seen in the Batam Center area is predominantly a grid road pattern formed by topography and Master Plan planning. The building pattern seen in the Batam Center area currently tends to be an elongated linear pattern, because it is lined up along the road. There are 3 factors that influence regional development in the Batam Center area, namely economic factors, political factors, and socio-cultural factors. text |
