INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/80089 Cirebon Regency, as a region in Indonesia, is facing serious challenges related to the problem of waste accumulation. The sustainability of waste management in this region is a major concern, especially due to various factors that worsen this situation, one of which is the high population. According to the latest data from the Cirebon Regency Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2021, this region has a population of 2,290,967 people. In this context, the increase in population has a direct impact on daily waste production in Cirebon Regency. Data from the Cirebon Regency Environmental Service (DLH) indicates that waste production will reach 1,100 tons per day in 2021. If calculated on average, each individual in Cirebon Regency contributes around 0.48 kg of waste every day. Problems arise when the available capacity of Final Processing Sites (TPA) cannot effectively accommodate the amount of waste produced, creating the potential for waste to accumulate in various locations. The importance of education from an early age in building environmental awareness becomes very real in situations like this. Therefore, the main aim of this research is to develop a concept for planning and designing, the concept is eco-edutourism. This effort not only aims to address waste management problems effectively, but also to provide further benefits in terms of education, environmental awareness and empowerment of local communities. The research methods applied include literature analysis, field surveys, interviews with stakeholders, and conceptual design modeling. The research results show that the Kubangdeleg TPA, with its focus on eco-edutoursim, has great economic potential. This approach involves a scheme for composting organic waste, managing inorganic waste, managing methane gas, and even utilizing landfill land that is no longer used for cultivating food crops. As a result of this research, Kubangdeleg TPA can be considered as a model that provides positive impacts in various aspects. Apart from being an effective means of managing waste, this TPA is also able to contribute to environmental education, increase public awareness, and empower local communities. By combining aspects of waste management and education, Kubangdeleg TPA creates a sustainable ecosystem. Composting organic waste helps in producing environmentally friendly fertilizer, while inorganic waste management ensures that the waste does not damage the surrounding environment. Apart from that, the use of methane gas as an energy source and the transformation of landfill land into an area for cultivating food crops are innovative steps that bring multiple benefits. From an economic perspective, the estimation results show that the economic potential of the waste composting sector reaches around IDR. 249,792,000 rupiah per day or around IDR. 35,970,048,000 per year. Meanwhile, the economic potential of plant cultivation reaches the largest estimate of around Rp. 3,463,680,000 per year. Looking at the results of this research, it can be concluded that the Kubangdeleg TPA not only provides a solution for sustainable waste management, but is also a catalyst for economic growth, social change and cultural preservation in Cirebon Regency. By empowering local communities and creating a model that can be adopted in other regions, Kubangdeleg TPA has the potential to become a center of profitable growth, both for the community and the surrounding environment. These steps create a positive cycle that supports regional sustainability and creates a model that can be implemented at the national level. text |
