Summary:Hybrid propulsion systems combine at least two different means of propulsion. In automotive applications, the typical hybrid system consists of an internal combustion engine (either gasoline or diesel) and one or several battery-powered electric motors. One advantage of such a system is that the internal combustion engine can be designed to always operate at peak efficiency with the electric motors used to provide primary or additional propulsion during high-demand periods. Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) are an important opportunity to address societal needs for higher fuel economy while meeting customer needs for performance, driving response, and onboard electricity. The technology encompasses a variety of designs that can be tailored to different targets for performance, efficiency, and operational characteristics at different levels of cost. Hybrid drive is synergistic with other technology developments.<p>Technology development which related with research or production process of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) made the researchers and engineers try to built a prototipe of an UAV which meet the requirements of the UAV missions, which are more variated and high-spesification-demand nowadays. One aspect which being a concern is, how to develop a good and advanced-technology-propulsion system for this kind of UAV? By adopting the Toyota Prius Hybrid System which is have been works, it might try to build a hybrid propulsion system design concept for UAV.
