Summary: | The necessity for house, especially in Indonesia, always increase every year. However, simultaneously, the use of more environmental friendly and sustainable materials needs to be increased as an effort to reduce environmental issues in the construction sector. Bamboo material, which is available in almost all corners of Indonesia, can be utilized and optimized. Bamboo material is a sustainable material which is classified as the material that contributes to the lowest carbon emissions for building a residence with various kinds of construction techniques, one of them is bamboo plastered construction technique. However, public interest in this construction technique is still low. The construction of bamboo plastered houses, known as mabuter, is quite affordable in terms of price, faster of construction time, and earthquake resistance. This research aims to determine the feasibility and potential as well as obstacles to houses with bamboo plastered construction. The research approach used is Post-Occupancy Evaluation which is viewed from a qualitative in technical aspect to evaluate the existing conditions of the bamboo plastered house to identify the potential and existing obstacles so that they can be repaired and perfected in the programming and design process of the plastered bamboo house construction. The results of this research show several conditions of seven bamboo plastered houses. The condition of these houses is quite good and still functions as a residence without major damage. However, there are several damage conditions which are categorized into low damage and moderate damage. The results of this research also contain recommendations for improvements for bamboo plastered house construction. |
