Description
Summary:Virtual environment technology is a technology that has been used in various aspects of life. Previous studies have discovered the potential and advantages of using virtual environment technology and interactive multimedia in assisting learning process. The use of virtual environment technology such as reconstructing historical events into a virtual environment packaged in interactive multimedia is a concept that the author believe can be developed to become a new media that can help in the teaching and learning processes in Indonesia. The author chose an Indonesian history lesson about the Indonesian Proclamation event for class XI students as a case study, which was motivated by the need for modern and more engaging learning methods. This design aims to reconstruct the events of the Indonesian Proclamation in interactive multimedia based on 3-dimensional virtual environment technology as supporting learning material for the Indonesian History subject for Class XI high school students. The designed interactive multimedia can then be evaluated to find out how the virtual environment can be used to assist learning in the Indonesian high school curriculum. This design uses a qualitative approach with the double diamond design method and multimedia development method for formal learning which consists of 5 main stages; concept creation and analysis, design, material collecting, manufacturing and development, and testing or assessment. From the design results, it was found that interactive multimedia with 3-dimensional virtual environment technology has the potential to be used as a media to support formal learning. Various design recommendations have also been made which are categorized into method, concept and visual recommendations. This design also develops a model for processing formal curriculum and learning information into narrative, visual, and interactive elements. The final result in the form of an initial prototype of an interactive multimedia for learning Indonesian history regarding the events surrounding the Indonesian Proclamation for 11th grade high school students has also been made.
