The Effect of Additive MAZ 400 on Biodiesel Performance

Background
The use of biodiesel as an alternative fuel has given a lower number of torsion and power on diesel engine compared to the use of diesel fuel. Furthermore, the quality of biodiesel fuel can also give out some dilemmas such as wastes deposite in the machine parts and higher emissio...

Furthermore, the quality of biodiesel fuel can also give out some dilemmas such as wastes deposite in the machine parts and higher emission of NOx. One of the additive products that is claimed capable of improving the performance of biodiesel fuel is MAZ 400. This additive compound claimed to be fuel economizer and emission reducer.
Problem
In order to know the effect of MAZ 400 as an additive compound in biodiesel, a laboratory testing has been done to evaluate engine performance using diesel fuel, biodiesel fuel, and biodiesel with additive. The composition of biodiesel in this testing only included B05 and B20.
Problem Solving Method
The parameters of engine performance as comparing variable between the uses of one fuel with another consist of power, thermal efficiency, and exhaust gas emission produced by engine in dynotest. Moreover, the assessment on waste deposite mass in combustion chamber, injection volume changes, plus the condition of lubricant used during testing, are also used as supportive data in analyzing engine performance while using different fuels, and also to know the effect of adding MAZ 400 in biodiesel.
Result
From the testing data, it is known that by adding 1200 ppm of MAZ 400 in biodiesel gave an overall improvement on engine performance with biodiesel B05 composition. While in B20, the adding of MAZ 400 only reduced the exhaust gas emissions and waste deposite mass on combusting chamber components.
text
