Description
Summary:Batik is one of Indonesia's artistic products that has been preserved for generations. Its existence has been known and recognized internationally by UNESCO. Globalization can help popularize the existence of anything, including Indonesian batik art. However, not only Indonesian Batik art, globalization can also popularize other things, until it becomes a popular culture such as in the entertainment sector. Globalization has helped broadcast many cultures from abroad and formed popular culture via the internet, which can compete with the attention of Indonesian people, especially anime fans, to local culture. One of the popular cultures is anime, which is a typical Japanese animation presentation. One anime that is quite popular is JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind. Therefore, in this research, textile craft works of art are used to convey a message or make a statement about an issue. Through the art of written batik, contemporary batik cloth was created using the once popular anime, namely Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, as inspiration for motifs derived from the distinctive style and visual elements of the anime's main character. The aim of creating works is to create works that are symbols of acculturation using creative collaboration methods between local culture and popular culture so that Indonesian art can continue to develop flexibly with the times and not be left behind. Developing a batik design begins with understanding the uniqueness of batik elements, such as decoration, fabric structure, fabric composition, and color characteristics. The design development stages are also based on the results of observations and literature studies conducted regarding the character style of the selected anime characters, which then proceeds to the design exploration stage, which in the process also refers to color theory and elements of anime/manga art. The design process uses visual adaptation theory which serves as a guideline in the design process for various batik motifs. The design that has been created is then realized using hand- written batik techniques until it becomes a complete cloth.
