The paradox of the nature and form that depicts the figure of Bhatari Durga in temple reliefs and hymns in Indonesia. Until now, women are still fighting for the right to live as their own identity separate from men. In order to be accepted in this environment, women are required to fulfill the narrow mold that builds gender assumptions. Taking inspiration from the duality of the figure of Bhatari Durga, through "COMPLEXITIES IN WOMEN AS THE PERSONIFICATION OF BHATARI DURGA " the writer wants to present how masculinity and femininity simultaneously exist together in human nature - including for women. The author formulates visuals that can represent the perfect figure of a woman in the embodiment of the duality of nature and figure that exists in Bhatari Durga. The writer created a keyword derivative of duality as a visual benchmark to be pursued. As a basis for creating the work the author uses the dual paradox theory and art as representation. The process of creating a work begins with reviewing theories related to the work. Followed by photographing the model as well as creating compositions and manipulating visuals. From the portraits collected, the author selected six sketches that best suited the keywords. From the selected photo, the writer tries to make a sketch on a canvas that has been coated with a base color. The author paints realistically. The writer uses artificial light when take a picture and visual manipulation by overlapping. The main visual alteration occurs in color. The resulting color overlaps with the color below it creating a visual with a large series of colors. In the end, the work is the result of the author's thought process as a manifestation of women visualized through the qualities of Bhatari Durga that can represent the ambivalence of strength and gentleness of a woman. Thus, the author borrows the representation of Durga and Uma to state that the only way to achieve wholeness is by accepting all aspects of oneself, both those accepted and expected by society at large, and the aspects of oneself that are often intentionally concealed." text
