Description
Summary:Time is a part of life that continually moves forward. The author often questions the cycle of time, which is a subjective experience for each individual. The author's thoughts about time become an anxiety that can be reflected in works of art. Through the medium of drawing, the author attempts to create an art piece that stimulates the author's senses in experiencing time. The process of creating the artwork becomes the author's method of feeling the passage of time. Using a pen with it’s consistent and easily controllable line characteristics, the author presents a drawing with the visual of tree rings. Similar to the rings on a tree trunk that can record past events, the author uses the visual of tree rings to reflect the author's thoughts on time. The consistent characteristics of the pen help reflect the author's thoughts on the constant and repetitive cycle of time, this repetitive cycle is similar to the writer’s process of drawing lines repetitively. Doing something repetitively can be a process for the writer to understand the repetitive passage of time. The nature of the pen, which cannot be erased, becomes a risk, much like the author's process of experiencing time full of risks that can lead to mistakes, the author cannot rewind time to correct those mistakes.
