Food now plays a part in the capitalist industry that promotes excessive food consumption by providing an illusion of choice to consumers. As a result, food has transformed from being a basic necessity to a form of entertainment. The final project work entitled “Kesan, Santap, Pangan” (“Imprint, Consume, Sustenance”) displays 21 modules of art printed with DTF UV, then arranged on a plates and dining table in an installationstyle manner. The use of microscopic images and DTF UV is a step towards defamiliarizing the representation of food, eliminating the familiar narrative to the point of unrecognizability. The title “Imprint, Consume, Sustenance” highlights the three processes that occur while eating. “Imprint” refers to how the food are being imprinted on the plates, “consume” refers to the process of eating the food, and “sustenance” refers to an invitation to the thought process about the food that has been consumed. Through an understanding of food representation and consumer culture, this work attempts to defamiliarize the representation by using microscopic images and DTF UV printing. The project aims to address the issues of the consumptive nature of the food industry on social media by challenging existing representations. text |

The ease of access to social media in the form of photos has influenced the
development of consumer culture in the food industry. Food now plays a part in the
capitalist industry that promotes excessive food consumption by providing an
illusion of choice to consumers. As a result, food has transformed from being a
basic necessity to a form of entertainment. The final project work entitled “Kesan,
Santap, Pangan” (“Imprint, Consume, Sustenance”) displays 21 modules of art
printed with DTF UV, then arranged on a plates and dining table in an installationstyle
manner. The use of microscopic images and DTF UV is a step towards
defamiliarizing the representation of food, eliminating the familiar narrative to the
point of unrecognizability. The title “Imprint, Consume, Sustenance” highlights the
three processes that occur while eating. “Imprint” refers to how the food are being
imprinted on the plates, “consume” refers to the process of eating the food, and
“sustenance” refers to an invitation to the thought process about the food that has
been consumed. Through an understanding of food representation and consumer
culture, this work attempts to defamiliarize the representation by using microscopic
images and DTF UV printing. The project aims to address the issues of the
consumptive nature of the food industry on social media by challenging existing
