Description
Summary:Village tourism is a form of alternative tourism and can be a locomotive for Indonesia's economic revival. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy classifies tourist villages into four levels, namely pioneering tourist villages (early stage of development), developing tourist villages, advanced tourist villages, and at the last level there are independent tourist villages (many community innovations and already known internationally). The development of tourist villages in Indonesia is aimed at making tourist villages independent tourist villages (RPJMN 2020-2023). Gegesik Kulon in Cirebon Regency, one of the tourist villages that still has pioneering status, needs to continue to be developed until it becomes an independent tourist village. The development of the Gegesik Kulon Tourism Village as an independent tourist village requires considering the potential that the tourist village currently has. Therefore, the aim of this research is to determine the potential for developing the Gegesik Kulon Tourism Village into an independent tourist village. Identification of the potential of the Gegesik Kulon tourist village was carried out by reviewing four aspects, namely tourist attraction, human resources and social cohesion, facilities and infrastructure, as well as institutions and financing. By using a qualitative approach, the data obtained is in the form of secondary and primary data (observations, interviews) and then analyzed using several qualitative descriptive methods, gap analysis, stakeholder analysis, and precedent analysis. From this research, the results obtained show that the Gegesik Kulon Tourism Village has the potential to develop tourist attractions in the form of culture, creative community activities and natural tourism in the form of agriculture. This development is supported by good human resources in terms of age and education level, as well as good social cohesion. However, to be developed as an independent tourist village, the quality of human resources related to tourism must be improved. In developing the Gegesik Kulon Tourism Village, it is also necessary to support the development of infrastructure to support tourism activities, the maturation of tourism village institutions and a good tourism village financing plan.
