Summary: | Rapid urbanization and global population growth projections until 2050 indicate
a significant increase in urban population, particularly in Asia. Global cities face
challenges like dense settlements, limited infrastructure, and environmental
issues. In this context, the concept of a "livable city" becomes crucial to meet the
needs of habitable cities. Bandar Lampung, an average-tier city in the Indonesia
Most Livable City Index 2022, urgently needs to enhance its livability as a
National Activity Center. This research is motivated by the need to overcome the
lack of subjective strategies and indicators in assessing the livability of Bandar
Lampung City. Furthermore, there is a limited number of studies that consider
secondary data to evaluate the quality of livability. This research aims to
formulate strategies to enhance the livability of Bandar Lampung as a solution to
achieving a livable city. The study employs a mixed-method approach with
quantitative descriptive analysis and qualitative descriptive analysis (GAP
analysis).
The livability indicators in this study consist of 54 indicators divided into 13
aspects. Based on the measurement results, only 33,33% of the livability
indicators in Bandar Lampung meet the standards, with only 4 aspects (housing,
food security, education, and worship) being achieved. To improve the livability
quality of Bandar Lampung, attention should be focused on key aspects. Firstly,
improvements are needed in open spaces, culture, and sports. Additionally, it is
crucial to address waste, energy, and telecommunication aspects. Furthermore,
enhancements in transportation and urban planning are necessary.
Simultaneously, priority should be given to improving the aspects of
environmental, health, population, clean water, and social conditions. A holistic
effort is required to enhance the overall livability of Bandar Lampung. |
