So far, they have been depended on external assistance for this need, both donors and the government. To meet operational costs, several Islamic boarding schools have formed business units in various forms such as individual businesses, CVs, PTs, and cooperatives called kopontren, but the results have not been optimal. This research uses the theory of Social Entrepreneurship and Leadership. This study aims to discover what factors and its relationships that affects business performance and propose what kind of business model should be implemented in Islamic boarding schools. The case study was carried out by conducting in-depth interviews with business actors from several Islamic boarding schools in West Java and combining them with literature studies from previous studies. Triangulating data from business actors and academics directly or indirectly involved in the Islamic boarding school business is carried out for the validation process. To strengthen the findings, researcher analysed the data using a qualitative data analysis software called NVivo. The variables that emerged were tested quantitatively by distributing questionnaires to 200 business actors in Islamic boarding schools in West Java. The last step, the results of the quantitative analysis were reconfirmed against 10 business units in Islamic boarding schools that had turnover above 1 billion rupiah per year and produced an Islamic business model that could be duplicated by business units in Islamic boarding schools in West Java. This study produced several findings, namely variables that affect business performance in business units, the concept of Entrepreneurial Muslim Leadership, and social business models for business units in Islamic boarding schools. The findings of this research have implications in theoretical and practical contexts, especially in leadership and social entrepreneurship. text
