The study aims to calculate and analyze the strain rate using GPS displacement data at stations scattered in the Jakarta area. The study consists of six data processing steps, that includes the calculation of speed at each observation station, the calculation of the principal strain rate, the calculation of dilatation rate, the calculation of maximum shear strain, the calculation of moment rate, and the calculation of earthquake magnitude. The results of the study indicate that the calculation of the speed of GPS observation stations points to the northwest, except for stations JKT2 and BAKO, which point to the northeast direction. The principal strain rates range from -183 to 515 nanostrain per year, with the biggest compressive dilatation rate occurring in southeastern area of Jakarta at -167 nanostrain per year, and the biggest extensional dilatation rate in area 14 at 544.42 nanostrain per year. The maximum shear strain ranges from 23 to 251 nanostrain per year. The moment rate value for the research area is 155.30 N-m per year, with a magnitude of Mw 6.9. text |
