A deep understanding of wave characteristics is very important because of their significant impact on various aspects of life on the coast. One way to get this data is to carry out Simulating Waves Nearshore (SWAN) numerical modeling in Delft3D. The results of SWAN modeling will provide wave parameters that are very necessary to help protect coastal areas. The study location taken was EPC3 Tuban which requires more protection as a mitigation measure against disasters that could be caused by wave activity in the area. One of the infrastructure that can be built in this area is a breakwater. The aim of this final assignment is to determine the characteristics of existing waves and wave characteristics after the breakwater was built in the EPC3 Tuban coastal area. The results obtained are then compared and their influence is determined so that a breakwater design can be selected that meets the specified criteria. The data used are wind, bathymetry and tidal data, all of which are secondary data. The data is processed through a series of processes to obtain data on extreme wave heights, wave roses, wind roses, important elevations and water depth. The modeling results show the wave height, wave propagation direction, and wave period. The height of the wave is greatly influenced by the presence of the breakwater as indicated by the height value decreasing drastically in the area behind the breakwater while the wave period changes irregularly. text |
