Description
Summary:Six Sigma was initially from the 1990s in a manufacturing company for manufacturing and transactional processes. Six Sigma has proven successful in decreasing lead time, bring up customer satisfaction, and make profit significantly increasing. Commonly, Six Sigma method was only run by manufacturing in technology companies, but now Six Sigma method can be used in manufacturing clothing company in the fashion industry especially fashion SME. In Indonesia, fashion SME is currently growing very rapidly. Fashion SME in Indonesia has a strong competitive level. Problem fashion SME related to efficiency and effectiveness. To adjust the competitiveness level, the company should elevate it by avoiding the problem that relates to fashion SME. Fashion SME has two methods to produce its product in different quantities; both methods are make-to-stock and make-to-order. One of the problem in fashion SME that used make-to-order method is varied production time. This research discusses the implementation of lead time improvement in one of fashion SME that used make-to-order method. To improve lead time, this research used Six Sigma method as the tool by using Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) steps to the critical process, so the bottleneck in a business process can be identified and improved. In Define step, defined the problem which occur in Kamfee company. Then the next step is Measure, in this step measured the losses of Kamfee company and calculate the lead time by explaining all the business process. After knew the losses and already knew the lead time, next step is Analysed the bottleneck and the cause of bottleneck by using fish bone diagram and pareto chart. Then knew the root cause of the problem and gave the solution for improve the business process and decrease lead time. To maintain the improved business process, the next step is controlling. In controlling step, this research used PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, and Act) tools for this step. From the findings of this research, this research’s implications are the influence of using Six Sigma method in fashion SME for the effectiveness and efficiency of their production process. The effectiveness and efficiency of production process can be seen from timeliness of production and delivery.
