Description
Summary:Surabaya is a city that has developed since the Dutch colonial period and has a variety of historical heritage traces that characterize the city. One of these heritages is the Ngagel beer factory, which is one of the early factories established since the establishment of the Ngagel integrated industrial area. The former industrial building of the brewery is currently still actively used, but has changed its function as a multi-functional complex area with several obstacles on the site and existing buildings. These problems include the existing non-heritage buildings making the area narrow and too close to the land boundary, then the lack of green open space and public space available. To address these issues, one of the adaptive reuse methods can be employed when designing with the use of industrial heritage buildings. The purpose of this thesis is to design the adaptation of a historic industrial building to meet the needs of the surrounding community. This includes planning for the necessary facilities and addressing any problems related to the building, site, and community. The latest function of this creative incubation facility is expected to address economic, labor, and social issues in the former Ngagel beer factory area. Therefore, the design is expected to fulfill the function of the needs of the people and communities around the former Ngagel beer factory site.
