Summary: | The issue of Municipal Solid Waste (landfills / TPA) poses a continuous challenge for
humanity, both before, during, and after the landfill operation. One such landfill, TPA
Leuwigajah in Indonesia, ceased operations in 2005 due to a landslide. In 2021, the Bandung
City Government planned to convert TPA Leuwigajah into a Food Security Area. However,
the presence of areas still covered by waste remains a hindrance in its processing. This research
aims to utilize the geomagnetic, electromagnetic induction (EMI), and geoelectric methods to
analyze the waste boundaries correlated with the geochemical data from XRF tests. The results
of Analytic Signal filtering in geomagnetic measurements indicate that the waste accumulation
response has values ranging from 60 to 180 nT/m2. The inversion results of conductivity values
in EMI measurements show that soil containing waste has resistive values at the surface (0 –
0.8 m) and conductive values at depths greater than 0.8 m. The resistivity values from the
inversion of Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) measurements indicate a waste thickness of
up to 4.16 m from the surface. The susceptibility values from MS2B Bartington measurements
show a positive correlation with XRF test results for the content of Cu, Zn, Pb, and Cd as
elements originating from the waste. The correlation of susceptibility values also indicates a
positive relationship with EMI measurements, demonstrating the congruence of EMI
measurements with the material characteristics from the XRF tests. |
