Description
Summary:In today’s business improvement, employee technical capability has become one of the critical items to achieve company goals. Since 2017, the largest manpower of PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) is from service contractor employee until currently totaled 24,171 of 30,555 (79%) employees. The initial competency assessment conducted in December 2021 identifies gaps in the technical capabilities of services contractor’s employee Operation Maintenance division in PTFI. This assessment involves evaluating employees' expertise and skills in their specific fields, particularly as Heavy Duty Mechanics. This final project aims to analyze and study the issues related to low technical competency among service contractor employees in the Operation Maintenance division of PTFI. The goal is to identify the root cause of this issue by using a fishbone diagram, analyzing the contractor employee’s technical competency gap through technical assessment which based on specific responsibilities and tasks, and applied the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method for selecting strategies to improve the technical competency of contractor employees in the Operation Maintenance division of PTFI. The consolidated AHP analysis led to the selection of implementing a contractor technical competency framework as the most effective solution for enhancing the competency of HDM contractor employees in the Operation Maintenance division. The findings of this research have emphasized the significance of employee competency improvement in meeting organizational objectives and sustaining a competitive advantage. Ultimately, by investing in employee competency enhancement, PTFI can achieve company goal for a sustainable safe production.
