ABSTRACT
Alan Block is located in North Barito Regency, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. Alan Block
is a part of the Barito Basin with the Tanjung Formation as a coal bearing formation. This
research aims to find out the characteristics, depositional environment, distribution model,
and estimate of coal resources in Alan Block. The data obtained is secondary data in the
form of 100 drill wells, outcrop data and data from the results of proximate quality analysis
of PT. Suprabari Mapanindo Mineral. The analysis of coal characteristics will use
proximate data while the depositional environment analysis will use sulfur data, the
electrofacies of gamma ray log geometry with literature studies support. For modeling
analysis, distribution and calculation of coal resource will use Minescape 5.7
The results of the correlation between logs and rock outcrop data at Alan Block covering an
area of 1.88 km
showed that the research area consisted of empat lithological units. Named
from the youngest is Batulempung 2 Unit including coal seams 7, 6 and 51, Batulempung –
Batupasir Unit including coal seams 52, 4U1, 4U2, 41, 42, 43, and 4L, Batupasir Unit, and
Batulempung 1 Unit including coal seams 31 and 32. These four units are equivalent with
the Lower Tanjung Formation. The geological structure that develops in the research area
is a normal fault with NW-SE orientation. This fault is the result of interpretation based on
coal correlation from well log elevation data.
2
Analysis based on literature studies showed that research areas were deposited
transgressively from fluvial to transitional. However, sulfur levels in coal seams 31 and 32
showed medium value (1.45 – 1.67%). This indicates these coal seams is deposited seawater
influence. Younger coal seams (seam 7 to 4L) have low sulfur values (0.29-0.6%) indicating
that these coal seams are deposited in the environment without seawater influence. Thus, it
is possible that there is a cyclical change in the deposition of coal seams. It is also supported
by various electrofacies geometry which showed changes in coal depositional environment.
Based on the results of the quality analysis, the coal quality rating in Alan Block is High
Volatile C Bituminous with an average calorific value of 7092,3 kcal/kg. The geological
complexity of the Alan Block according to SNI is a moderate to complex area. Thus, coal
resources estimation of research areas starting from the inferred, indicated, and measured
resources are 1.927.087, 6.684.414, and 900.426 tons with total resources of 9.511.928 tons. |
