Summary: | Along with the development of 3D printing, the demand for filaments to print products is increasing. The variety of filaments is becoming more diverse to meet the needs of 3D printed products. Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) is one of the interesting filaments due to its elastomeric properties. TPE has many variations, one of which is Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU). With the high specifications that TPU possesses, TPU has its own disadvantages in the printing part. To print TPU, certain parameters are needed such as a low print temperature, low print speed, and various other parameters.
In this study, the optimum parameters for printing TPU filament products are examined. In addition, this study also examines the mechanical properties of TPU filament in terms of tensile strength and impact strength. The process of determining the optimum print parameters uses variations in print temperature (220, 225, 230 ?C), print speed (20, 30, 40 mm/s), retraction distance (1, 2, 3 mm), and retraction speed (20, 30, 40, 50 mm/s). From the results of the optimum print parameters obtained, tensile and impact tests are conducted to obtain the mechanical properties of the TPU.
Based on the results obtained, the optimum print parameters for printing products using TPU filament are at a print speed of 40 mm/s, print temperature of 230C, retraction speed of 40 mm/s, and retraction distance of 1 mm. And the highest tensile strength of the TPU filament is at 46.69 MPa, and the highest impact strength of the TPU filament is at 233.30 kJ/m². |
