A simple experiment was required in order to explain about solubility concept and its chemicals effect. The objective of these experiments was to examine the effect of NaOH, NaCl, CaCl2, Ca(NO3)2, urea, and sucrose on the solubility of Ca(OH)2 in water. The expectation of this experiment was able to be applied in the instruction. The acid-base titration method was used to determination of calcium hydroxide solubility. This titration used hydrochloric acid as titrant and phenolphthalein as indicator. The result showed that solubility of calcium hydroxide in water at 25ºC was 0.0203 M. As the consequence of rising NaOH concentration, solubility of Ca(OH)2 in water was decreased. The solubility of Ca(OH)2 was decreased 73% in 0.1 M NaOH. As the result of increasing CaCl2 and Ca(NO3)2 concentration, the solubility of Ca(OH)2 in water was decreased. The solubility of Ca(OH)2 was decreased 22% and 19% in 0.1 M CaCl2 and Ca(NO3)2 respectively. Meanwhile, the solubility of Ca(OH)2 in water was increased while concentration of NaCl was increased. The solubility of Ca(OH)2 was increased 19% in 0.1 M NaCl. The solubility of Ca(OH)2 in water was decreased while concentration of urea was increased. The solubility of Ca(OH)2 was decreased 5% in 0.1 M urea. Meanwhile, the solubility of Ca(OH)2 in water was increased while concentration of sucrose was increased. The solubility of Ca(OH)2 was increased 88% in 0.1 M sucrose. text
