UPCYCLE FABRIC WASTE INTO BAG PRODUCTS USING FABRIC MANIPULATION TECHNIQUES

Cloth waste is a type of waste that is difficult to decompose. Fabric waste, one of which can be produced from the convection industrial process. One of the convection centers is nicknamed Kampung Gamis, located in Soreang Regency, Bandung. This area can produce 2.2 tons of fabric waste per day. Orders received by business actors reach 2000 pieces per week and increase to double before Eid al-Fitr. The waste used in this research is fabric left over from convection production in Kampung Gamis. The patchwork collected is of different sizes and types. The implementation of the research was carried out by involving tailors in Kampung Gamis. This research uses qualitative methodology. Data collection was carried out by interviews, observation, literature study and exploration. The concept carried out in the research is the upcycle method with the development of the three stages of design theory by identifying problems, exploring and making products, as well as color theory so that the resulting product has color harmony. The analysis was carried out after the research process was carried out with product evaluation and a survey of tailors in Kampung Gamis. The product produced in the research is a fashion product, it is a bag product. The method used is the upcycle method using fabric manipulation techniques. The fabric manipulation techniques used are based on the results of research exploration. Research can be implemented with business owner/tailors in Kampung Gamis nicely.
