Summary: | The use of bamboo as a construction material has been a focus of attention in recent decades due to its various ecological advantages, natural aesthetics, and unique structural characteristics. This research aims to explore the potential of bamboo architectural tectonics in the context of designing mixed-use middle-rise buildings in Bandar Lampung City. The research methodology involves in-depth literature analysis to understand the principles of bamboo design and construction, as well as case studies that reveal the use of bamboo in various scales and architectural contexts.
In developing the design concept, an exploratory approach is used to explore the potential and unique characteristics of bamboo as a construction material. The research findings indicate that bamboo can be used as a primary construction material with intriguing tectonics, capable of creating a concept that highly fully considers the characteristics and potential of bamboo, thus offering a new perspective on bamboo buildings that are highly responsive to their physical and mechanical properties. It is hoped that this research will contribute to the development of sustainable architecture by combining local traditional values with modern technology in building design.
