Non-structural methods involving the community to participate in preserving the environment and the government's role in setting policy directions. text |

Palembang City is the second largest city on the island of Sumatra with a
population of 1.7 million people based on population census data in 2022.
Palembang City is known as a water city where most of the area is swamps and
rivers. So Palembang City is a city prone to flooding caused by land conversion
into residential areas. Without a proper drainage control system, several areas
experience inundation caused by quite high rainfall.
This study was prepared to solve the flooding problem in Palembang City,
especially on Jalan Resident Abdul Rozak, which is one of the main access points
for the community and the main access for PT. Pupuk Sriwijaya (PUSRI). The cause
of flooding in this area is due to the drainage capacity being unable to
accommodate and drain when it rains. Floods can cause impacts in environmental,
economic and social aspects. The approach in this research is a flood control
strategy with an integrated drainage system (ecodrain) or better known as the
TRAP system, namely Accommodate, Absorb, Flow and Maintain. In principle, it is
the restoration and increase of flow in urban drainage channels from pollution
caused by rubbish or waste water. In overcoming flooding problems, structural and
non-structural methods can be used. The structural method consists of capacity
adjustments and maintenance of drainage, absorption wells (vertical drain),
retention ponds and waste infrastructure. Non-structural methods involving the
community to participate in preserving the environment and the government's role
in setting policy directions. |
