Summary: | The development of creative industries plays a significant role in regional
economic growth. In Indonesia, creative industries are often rooted in traditional
arts and culture, particularly in rural areas. This sector holds promise for
boosting regional economic development but faces vulnerability to disasters. To
achieve disaster resilience, the creative industry can strive to build business
continuity through a business continuity management strategy approach. Due to
thei inherent creativity, creative industries may be better equipped to navigate
crisis situations. Creative industries based on traditional arts and culture have
their own creative processes in building business continuity to achieve disaster
resilience. This research aims to identify how the creative industry builds business
continuity after the earthquake disaster. The theoretical foundation of this
research rests on the concepts of creative industries, creative industry resilience,
and business continuity management. Employing a qualitative approach, this
study utilizes a case study design focusing on the creative industries in the
Kasongan and Jipangan areas of Bantul Regency. Data collection was conducted
through interviews, and qualitatives analysis was performed using comaprative
and explanatory building techniques. The research findings indicate that the
internal process of building post-disaster business continutiy by the creative
industry leverages both inherent and adaptive capacities. Creativity serves as a
key strenght, enabling the industry to innovate and building business continuity
after a disaster. Additionally, strong internal controls, encompassing capabilities
and a positive mindset, facilitate the industry’s execution of all internal processes
for post-disaster business continuity. Notably, the creative industry demonstrates a
degree of independence in building business continuity after disasters, without a
strict reliance on external parties. However, external support can expedite the
post-disaster recovery process. |
