Description
Summary:The aim of this research is to find new membrane for Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC). Polyblends between sulfonated polystyrene (PSS) and lignin were prepared by incorporating lignin into the sulfonated polystyrene with dimethyl formamide (DMF) as solvent, then the solution was evaporated. The precipitation polyblend was pressed. This experiment reports about the influence of sulfonation degree from PSS on structure and properties of polyblend. Membranes of PSS-lignin were characterized by FT-IR, proton conductivity, ion exchange capacity, water uptake/ swelling, mechanical strength, and termal property. The results of this experiment showed that membrane properties ware changed with the presence of sulfonate group. The sulfonation degree of PSS on membrane could influence the structure and physical properties PSS-lignin membrane, and the best PSSlignin membrane was obtained with the sulfonation degree of PSS 8.48%.
