INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/81210 Land Subsidence is a phenomenon that occurs in many cities, especially large cities in Indonesia such as Jakarta, Bandung, and Semarang. Land subsidence in Bandung Basin thought to be caused by excessive groundwater extraction, natural consolidation, load of construction and tectonic. This subsidence may also has potensially causes economic losses, such as damage to building, infrastructure, and also may expanded flood area. Monitoring of land subsidence in Bandung Basin has studied by GPS survey methods from 2000 up to 2010 in some area that suspected experience land subsidence and also decreasing of groundwater level in great quantities. Field survey was also conducted in Bandung Basin to identify the economic losses that may arise due to land subsidence. Based on the result of GPS data processing, the land subsidence rate is around 1 to 16 cm per year in periods of 2000 up to 2010 which varies both spatially and temporally. This subsidence is mainly caused by excessive groundwater extraction and natural consolidaton. The subsidence with maximum rate was experienced by the region with great decreasing of groundwater level such as Cimahi, Dayeuhkolot, Rancaekek and Majalaya. Economic losses has been identified in affected areas such as cracking in walls of buildings and highways, the cost to raise the home yard, and expanded of flood area. Monitoring of land subsidence is useful for groundwater extraction regulation, flood control, environmental conservation, and decision maker in infrastructure development. text
