RECENT STUDY OF LAND SUBSIDENCE IN BANDUNG BACIN

Bandung basin have a problem of land subsidence that has been observed since 2000. From several factors causing the land subsidence occurred in Bandung Basin is estimated to be strongly influenced by excessive groundwater extraction (Abidin, H.Z., 2006). The purpose of this study is to know the value of land subsidence in Bandung Basin. Monitoring of land subsidence in Bandung Basin has been done by GPS (Global Potitioning System) survey method from 2010 to 2016 in some areas that allegedly experienced land subsidence. A field survey was also conducted in the Bandung Basin to identify the economic losses that may arise from land subsidence. GPS data processing results show in the period 2010 to 2016 some areas in the basin of Bandung has experienced a decrease in soil face of 0.1 to 20 cm per year which varies both spatially and temporally. This is due to excessive groundwater extraction and also natural compaction processes. Monitoring of land subsidence is useful for regulating groundwater retrieval, flood control, environmental conservation, and decision making
