Description
Summary:The objective of this research is to make a land use/land cover classification systems which can be used in spatial planning. The land use/land cover classification system is a configuration of features in map consisted of several levels, where each level provides different detailed information. This land use/land cover classification system is a development and modification of the existing classification system which is developed by Anderson in 1976, other existing classification system documents, and Indonesian regulation which support the research. As an illustration, this classification system is implemented for compiling land use/land cover maps from Landsat ETM and Quickbird satellite images for Cibeunying district area in Bandung City. The result showed that 1st level category from classification system is appropriate for elements in Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW Nasional) map, the 2nd level category is for elements in Provincial Spatial Plan (RTRW Propinsi) map, the 3rd level category is for elements in Regency/City Spatial Plan (RTRW Kabupaten/Kota) map, and the 4th level category from classification system is for elements in Detailed Spatial Plan (RDTR Kawasan) map respectively.
