This phenomenon poses various challenges to communities and local authorities, such as environmental degradation, congestion, and rising prices of goods and services. Badung, as the center of tourism in Bali, should receive more attention in the context of overtourism. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the perceptions of the people of Badung Regency towards overtourism, as well as to explore the role of stakeholders in efforts to mitigate its negative impacts. This research used a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative approach was conducted through a survey of 149 respondents to measure community perceptions of the negative impacts of overtourism. The results show that the people of Badung Regency feel the negative impacts of overtourism, especially on the physical aspects, namely infrastructure (congestion) and economy (price increase). Social and cultural impacts are also felt, although they are not the main concern of the community. Meanwhile, a qualitative approach was conducted through interviews with 12 stakeholders to understand their strategies and roles in mitigating the impacts of overtourism. The results show that stakeholders have made various efforts, such as sustainable tourism development, waste management and improving the local economy. However, when compared to the Core Indicators and recommended actions, stakeholders in Badung Regency are still not fully implementing or achieving the guidelines. In addition, there is a gap between community perceptions and stakeholder strategies. Communities have not fully perceived the strategies implemented by the government to mitigate the negative impacts of overtourism. They want better communication, more active involvement and transparency in overtourism mitigation efforts. Not only from the government side, Badung Regency also does not yet have a non-governmental organization that is specifically engaged in overcoming and mitigating the negative impacts of the tourism sector. Therefore, overtourism in Bali requires a collaborative solution thatvii involves the active participation of communities and stakeholders (government and NGOs) to conduct open communication, inclusive engagement, and transparency in decision-making to build an effective and sustainable mitigation strategy. At the end, there are also recommended strategies formulated based on the gaps between existing implementation strategies, as well as Core Indicators, recommended actions, and community perceptions of stakeholder-implemented strategies. text |
