One of the efforts made to develop sanitation is Community Based Sanitation (SANIMAS) which is a community empowerment activity with the aim of ensuring sustainable management. Bandung is one of the cities in Indonesia that has implemented the SANIMAS program, but there are still several locations that have not been able to implement sustainable management. Two subdistricts—Babakan Sari and Sukapura—received SANIMAS infrastructure as a result of the Citarum Harum Program. Although the two locations have been declared functional based on the functionality data, initial observations indicate that neither location has been able to carry out sustainable management with their respective problems. This research aims to determine the sustainability status of SANIMAS at both locations, starting with validating the determinants of sustainability with experts and then testing the Relative Importance Index (RII), the results of which are used as the basis for preparing a questionnaire for administrators and users. The results of the questionnaire scoring were then analyzed using RAPFISH /RAPWASTMAN (Rapid Appraisal For Fisheries/Wastewater Management) software which obtained quite sustainable status in the technical aspect with a score of 54.10 for SANIMAS Babakan Sari and 68.74 for SANIMAS Sukapura KPAD East Pindad (Sukapura). Quite sustainable for institutional aspects with scores of 62.32 and 52.04 respectively, quite sustainable index for environmental aspects with scores of 57.62 and 72.06 respectively, less sustainable index for economic aspects with scores of 39.96 and 49.94 and quite sustainable index for socio-cultural aspects with values of 53.28 and 63.06 respectively. This shows that in developing a strategy to increase sustainability, it is necessary to prioritize economic aspects which are influenced by technical factors (damage to the pipe network) at SANIMAS Babakan Sari and socialfactors (reluctance of users to pay dues) at SANIMAS Sukapura. Short-term strategies to increase sustainability in the economic aspect at SANIMAS Babakan Sari can be carried out by increasing service capacity so that managers have additional funds for operational costs, collecting used cooking oil for resale as an alternative funding development for medium-term strategies and proposing collaboration with the AKSANSI organization (Indonesia KSM Sanitation Association) which is a forum for community-based IPAL managers throughout Indonesia as a long-term strategy. A short-term strategy to improve the economic aspect at SANIMAS Sukapura can be carried out through a cultural approach by intensifying the perelek culture (a Sundanese tradition of collecting rice or money from residents which is used for public purposes or helping people who need help) which has been carried out by some community members. Collaboration with religious and community leaders to increase community participation in paying contributions can be carried out as a medium-term strategy. A long-term strategy could be in the form of innovation of contributions so that it attracts the interest of the beneficiary community. text
