When the natural period of the basin is identical to the period of the propagating wave, wave resonance will occur. An analytical approach is used to determine the natural period of the basin based on a system of linear shallow water equations, which is solved using the variable separation method. Subsequently, a numerical approach is conducted using the finite volume method to detect the occurrence of wave resonance phenomena. The resonance phenomenon caused by mangrove trees is examined in two different types of basins. In this final project, the basins studied are basins with rectangular cross-sections and basins with triangular cross-sections. The influence of mangrove parameter values and dimensions on resonance phenomena is investigated in this final project. Moreover, optimal parameter values and dimensions that can prevent resonance phenomena are determined. The influence of basin type on resonance phenomena caused by mangroves is also studied. The results of this study indicate that increasing the coefficient of friction can halt the phenomenon of resonance. Adequate surface roughness and the closeness of mangroves to the wall play crucial roles in preventing resonance phenomena. Increasing the height of mangrove placement can also prevent resonance phenomena caused by mangroves. text
